WHAT DO I NEED TO JOIN?
We have spots on our roster for all levels of riders, from those who have never ridden a horse to grand prix competitors. Riders must have a valid passport and proper equipment including an ASTM/SEI certified helmet, tall boots (half chaps are fine for lessons), beige breeches, show shirt and show jacket . Team mates lend each other equipment at shows when possible but is not guaranteed. Other than that, a positive attitude and great sportsmanship are a must!

TRYOUTS
Tryout applications open July 1st for the 2025-2026 season!
To tryout for the University of Guelph IHSA Hunt-Seat Team, applicants must put together a 5 minute video displaying their strengths as a rider. More details on what to include in your video can be found below.
Applicants must also fill out a Rider Placement Form (found below), which is based on riding experience and EC results. These can be found by visiting the "EC Results" link below and entering your name in the "Athletes" search bar.

STEP-BY-STEP APPLICATION PROCESS
1. Put together a video of yourself riding at the level you are most comfortable. Your video should include:

Flatwork, such as walk/trot/canter, sitting trot, sitting canter

No stirrup footage
-
Jumping footage (if applicable at your level) at a comfortable height

Show footage is encourage, but not mandatory

As we compete on a catch-riding circuit, the more horses the better! Show us your versatility!
Videos should be no longer than 5 minutes and should highlight your strengths as a rider. Please post the video on a media platform such as YouTube (video can be private as long as we have access). We have positions open for all levels of riders, so don’t worry if you don’t meet all the requirements above!

2. Fill out the level placement form based on your EC results and riding experience.
3. ​Send us an email at equestriane@uoguelph.ca by September 5th, 2025. Your email must include:

a LINK to your tryout video (do not attach the actual video to your email, we will be unable to open/view it)
